Why You'll Love Cebu
Cebu isn’t just an island — it’s a vibe. Think turquoise waterfalls tucked behind jungle roads, ferry rides to white-sand islands, street BBQ under the stars, and diving with sardines in Moalboal. It's the Philippines in full color, with a local rhythm that's impossible not to love.
Local Highlights
Here's what I actually did — and would do again in a heartbeat:
- Chased waterfalls – Kawasan Falls is the star, but Inambakan and Tumalog are just as magical and way less crowded
- Sardine run in Moalboal – Snorkel straight from the beach and swim with thousands of sardines (seriously unreal)
- Island-hopped to Pescador + Sumilon – Clear water, white sand, and chill island vibes
- Sunset BBQ in Cebu City – Larsian BBQ is messy, smoky, delicious, and exactly where you should be at 8 PM
- Oslob for whale sharks – Controversial and touristy, but I went — and I recommend doing it responsibly or skipping it if you’re unsure
Where to Stay
For laid-back days, I stayed in Moalboal — beach shacks, cowork cafes, and scooter freedom. If you want to explore the city too, IT Park in Cebu City is clean, safe, and full of great eats.
Nomad Tip: Moalboal’s Wi-Fi is surprisingly solid — look for hostels or homestays near Shaka Café. And rent a scooter — it’s the best way to get around.
